Join Alison, our pelvic health physiotherapist, for pregnancy pilates involving breathing exercises, gentle stretching, strengthening and relaxation techniques.
By increasing your body awareness and learning breathing and relaxation techniques, this will help you to relieve stress and tension. Strengthening can help you adapt to the increasing load as your baby grows, and help to address common prenatal symptoms like lower back pain. There will be a focus on practising pelvic floor exercises in preparation for birth and to strengthen this area.
You don’t have to be experienced in pilates to reap the benefits of pregnancy pilates. The exercises are simple and suit any fitness level. Best of all, you’ll meet other mums-to-be at your classes.
Recommended for over 12 weeks into pregnancy before starting.
Please note, you will be unable to attend this class if you have any of the following:
-Ruptured membranes, premature labour
-Persistent second or third trimester bleeding/placenta previa
-Pregnancy induced hypertension or pre-eclampsia
-Incompetent cervix
-Evidence of intrauterine growth restriction
-High-order pregnancy (eg. Triplets)
-Uncontrolled type I diabetes, hypertension or thyroid disease, other serious cardiovascular, respiratory or systemic disorders
All classes will be face to face at our practice at 80 Kirkland, opposite the Kendal Parish Church.
Equipment will be provided for you, you will need to wear comfortable clothing and we suggest bringing some water to the class. If you have a mat you are more than welcome to bring and use this or if you would prefer not to be we can provide one.
A registration form will be sent out to you in the confirmation email, we ask this to be completed as soon as possible so Alison has time to check through these ahead of the classes.
