Saturday Aerial Rope Class (Corde Lisse) with Laura Murphy: 18th July 2026

Details

Aerial rope mini-workshop (suitable for intermediate to more advanced aerialists - students and professionals welcome) led by professional aerialist and performance maker Laura Murphy. This three-hour weekend session, allows students to practice and deepen their existing skills, and push their practice forward in a supportive environment.

Students will focus on building sequences, conditioning, drops, rolls, transitions and holds such as meat hook and scorpion.

*Students will be responsible for their own warm ups and cool downs before and after the session.

Prerequisites: confidence inverting, straddle climbs, catchers and propellers. Some experience with beats. **None of the aforementioned need to be perfect! They are suggested as a baseline for confidence working on aerial rope. Please do get in touch if you are unsure about if the session is suitable for you.

A bit about me …

  • I'm a queer aerialist and performance maker based in Bristol
  • Pronouns they/she
  • I'm really excited about the physical and creative possibilities of aerial rope and enjoy it as part of my professional practice and how it plays a part in my mental health and wellbeing
  • I strive to foster a learning environment that is inclusive and meets people where they are at, physically and mentally
  • I'm always open to feedback and always learning from students how I can adapt, improve or evolve with their needs
  • I always begin my classes with a group check-in, I believe this is really important for supporting yourself and supporting others in the class (aerial is a practice that wonderfully pushes your limits but it's important to do that from a place of awareness for yourself and others).

Tickets and Costs:

I use a sliding scale fee structure based on income. I don't require any proof of income, and where you position yourself on the scale is entirely at your own discretion. Income is intended as a guideline, but I recognise there may be other factors, such as caring responsibilities or additional living costs, that affect disposable income. Inspired by other businesses using similar models, this approach allows people to choose a price that best reflects their individual circumstances. My aim is to earn a sustainable income from my profession while making aerial classes as accessible as possible to people with different financial circumstances.

In addition, for every workshop, one place will be reserved at £45 for someone from the Global Majority (this is separate from the two places available for those with an annual income below £20,000).

--

This reduced rate forms part of my commitment to anti racism and to widening access to aerial rope and circus for people from the Global Majority, recognising that structural inequalities can affect opportunities to participate.
