A portraiture class with a difference.
Each week we'll study a portrait from the past, from Rembrandt to Alice Neel, getting to know it through looking, reading, talking and drawing.
Once we know the picture well, our model will re-enact the pose, bringing it back to life and letting us have fun making a contemporary version.
What you will need to prepare:
A computer or phone to join the meeting with. Laptop/ computer is definitely preferable over phones as I will be showing images that would benefit from a larger screen and, more importantly, we will be drawing from a model on screen.
Paper
Materials: I would recommend having an array of materials close at hand but really you can use anything. Suggested materials: Charcoal, Pencil, Pen, Ink and Brush, Watercolours, Pastels and anything else you may like to experiment with.
Reminder: When we use live models, please do not take any screenshots or photos of the screen.
