A two-part training course covering Introduction to Fire and Tools. Part-funded by the Community Lottery Fund.

Fire (18th May):
In bushcraft fire is an essential part of spending time outdoors, and is used for cooking, warmth, light, hygiene and safety, it can also work wonders in lifting moral of the group on a cold and wet day! Having the confidence and know-how to prepare, light, maintain and cook on the fire and to engage your learners along the way, opens up a wealth of opportunities for learning!

This course is aimed at:

Nursery School/early years Teachers
Primary School Teachers
Secondary School Teachers
Parents of Home Educated Children
Youth leaders
Parents interested in using tools around and with their own children
Those working in outdoor settings with learners aged 5 years plus

This course aims to:

Build confidence and skills in the effective lighting of fire using primitive fire making methods;
Maintain a fire to be able to cook on with a group of learners;
Effectively extinguish your fire leaving no trace .

Tools (25th May):
Using tools for younger learners is often received with much enthusiasm! But it can feel daunting as an educator and a risky activity to embark upon. But with clear demonstration of how to use each tool, hands-on practice, applying regular safety checks and close supervision, many enjoyable outcomes can ensue. This CPD for Educators Training aims to empower confidence, develop know-how and inspire increased tool-use in your learner-setting in meaningful ways!
