The Trainer
These courses are delivered by Gina BA(Hons) PGCE MSC RNT DipPP, the clinical education lead for a mass vaccination centre. She is an incredible trainer and has many years of experience not only in vaccination, but also in teaching. As an expert in her field, Gina has spent many years working in clinical settings, and delivering top-notch training to new and qualified health care professionals. She has designed our immunisation courses to follow all legal requirements and guidelines, to ensure that all our delegates will leave our courses prepared to be signed off as fully competent in immunisation (if they have not already been signed off).
Aims/Outcomes
This course is for those who have been vaccinating (e.g. Covid) and wish to keep their training up to date. This half-day face to face refresher course follows the guidelines of the national minimum standards for registered healthcare practitioners (2018) for immunisation training and counts as 3.5 hours of CPD training. It includes a practical demonstration of IM injection technique, and information on Flu, pneumococcal, shingles and Covid Vaccinations as well as intranasal (spray) influenza for children (2-17 years). By the end of the course, you will be able to provide a safe, effective, and high standard of care.
The course will cover:
• The aims of immunisation: national policy and schedules
• The different types of vaccines used and their composition
• Current issues and controversies regarding immunisations
• Medicines management – Storage and handling of vaccines
• Correct administration of vaccines
• Documentation, record keeping and reporting
Elements such as anaphylaxis and BLS will be assumed to have been completed as part of the candidates SMT.
Delegates to attend Forrester's House in Estover for a prompt 1pm start on the 21st of June 2024 There is free parking at this facility. You do not need to bring anything with you, but please come prepared to learn, and dressed appropriately. There are no facilities to buy food on the premises.
Please can anyone with any sensory, learning or mobility issues who feel it could impact on their training inform us, so we can prepare in advance to best aid you.

Tea/coffee and water will be available for you to help yourself to from our kitchen on the day, there is also a food van which stops outside in the morning. Please note, we do not have facilities to purchase food on-site so you will need to bring your own lunch or use the food van.
