Using the Attention Autism™ programme to deliver RSE & the Secondary Curriculum

Note: This is for people who have already attended the Online Attention Autism™ Training or the Face to Face 2 Day Attention Autism Training .

This workshop is designed for professionals (e.g. teachers, teaching assistants, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists) working with secondary aged pupils with Special Educational Needs.

This training includes the Attention Autism™ methodology and practice that underpins the programme, demonstrates the practical techniques and covers a range of other strategies for other areas such as problem solving and personalising interventions.

(This follow up workshop assumes participants have attended the Online Attention Autism™ Training or the Face to Face Day 1 and Day 2 Attention Autism™ training and are familiar with the 4 stage programme of intervention.)

The Attention Autism™ Programme can be a vehicle for your curriculum delivery. After all the students enjoy it so why not use it to bring all the engagement it inspires to learning objectives?

If you want to learn how to deliver RSE (Relationship & Sex Education) and your secondary curriculum in a fun and fascinating way then this day is for you. The workshop challenges you to develop your expertise in using the 4 stages of the Attention Autism™ programme to deliver curriculum topics including English, Maths and RSE. We will be demonstrating a range of practical activities to help you get started with difficult topics such as body changes during puberty.

The curriculum objectives and smart targets are step one in the planning process. Step two is thinking about what you can do to make it possible for the child to achieve them. This day will provide participants with the opportunity to plan and create your own activities in small groups.

The training will give you ideas for how to work on whole class or individual targets within your sessions and ideas for making your curriculum topics more engaging for students. We hope that the training will inspire you to deliver the curriculum objectives in a way that encourages the students to engage in dynamic and meaningful learning.

How much it costs

Using the Attention Autism™ programme to deliver RSE & the Secondary Curriculum training is £210, and is limited to 25 places.

Travel
The venue is 10 minutes walk from Guildford mainline station and the bus station. There is limited parking available at the venue but please allow time for traffic!

Resources for the day
We provide tea and coffee throughout the day. Guildford High Street is 10 minutes away and there are lots of choices and options for lunch available in the supermarkets/coffee shops etc. We provide an electronic handout for the day. The workshop is very practical and we will be getting down on the floor and trying out activities so please leave the Gucci at home and come in comfortable casual clothes.

You are welcome to join us from 9.00 onwards to register, settle in and get a coffee.
The workshop will start very promptly at 9.15am The timings for the day are as follows;

11.30 am Break for 20 minutes for refreshments
1.00 pm Lunch
1.45 pm Workshop and practical activities with tea and coffee as we work
4.00 pm close of workshop

Recording and Photos
Please note that there may not be any recording or photographs taken during the workshop. It is very difficult to persuade parents to give permission for films of their child to be used for training as concerns about where the images will be seen are huge. In order to get permission I give my word to parents that there is NO recording or filming during the workshop. In this way parents can feel confident. Once the workshop is finished there is time allowed for attendees to take photographs of any activities or resources produced in the day.
