Learn how to make your own mosaic in one day, with the option of two consecutive days, in the company of a small relaxed group in the homely setting of Caroline’s artist studio in her Mosaic House!
You will learn essential mosaic skills: cut shapes with tile nippers, create with crockery, use a variety of adhesives, translate your ideas into mosaic on ply and learn how to grout. No previous mosaic experience necessary. All equipment and a generous abundance of materials with homemade lunch and CAKE provided! Caroline is a qualified teacher and professional international artist since 1988.
Please wear adequate footwear, such as trainers or toe covering shoes. Remember there'll be shards of crockery, glass and ceramic that can cut and scratch!
I have aprons, safety glasses, gloves and all the tools needed.
Do bring along with you any ideas/sketches that you would like to use and tiles/crockery that may have some special meaning to you. I have plenty of designs and templates, as well as a printer if we need to use the internet.
You may like to bring an object to begin your own mosaic project. It's entirely up to you.
You have a choice of plywood boards at 12mm thick:
24cm circles
24 x 24 cm square
You may like to plan ahead a design with one of the above sizes in mind. This is big enough to learn mosaic skills and to take away your own art piece.
Please Note: If you are working on a large scale, you may like to work up to 4pm. I will be showing you how to grout.
You could decide to grout at home.
Please do arrive at 9.45am for a 10am start. I'll have the kettle on!
