What will Pietro be teaching?
I will be teaching a contemporary dance class, starting with a led warm-up, followed by functional exercises that will culminate in a phrase. We will explore movement through images and sensa- tions, while also creating space for each individual to add their own uniqueness to the movement. We will play with the image of sand, explore the concepts of empty and full, and experiment with gravity. The class is based on my natural improvisational style, and it is an attempt to translate that into other bodies through both movement explorations and fixed exercises.
Previous dance experience is required, as the class is aimed at undergraduate and professional dancers.
More about Pietro:
Pietro is a freelance dancer based in England, originally from Lecce, Italy. After graduating in 2022 from NSCD, Pietro joined Verve and toured internationally new works by KOR’SIA and Jamaal Burkmar. Since September 2023 Pietro worked with choreographers Boram Kim, Richard Pye, Devika Rao, Gwyn Emberton, and with companies Karma Dance, National Dance Company Wales, Korea Na- tional Contemporary Dance Company and Skanes Dansteater.
