Floor work & Arc with Michael Kelland
WHAT IS THE CLASS?
Michaels class focuses on floorwork, acrobatics and integrating the two with a contemporary flow. Taking influence from martial arts, capoeira, breaking, and circus acrobatics as well as release technique we will begin with full body mobilisations and activations, preparing the body for acrobatics. We will then move into drills and progressions, starting with basic movements and building slowly into a variety of acrobatics, with time and feedback to properly understand the components of acrobatics before we integrate them into a fast paced, dynamic and fluid sequence.

Michael graduated from LCDS in 2012. Since then he has worked with James Wilton Dance, Tom Dale Dance, Riccardo Buscarini, Autin Dance Theatre, Lila Dance, Caitlin Barnett, Sonia Sabri, Joli Vyann and Art of Spectra among others. His teaching practice is primarily floorwork technique with a focus on integrating acrobatics from capoeira, circus and breaking. He has taught at LCDS and NSCD as well as leading company class for NDC Wales, Lila dance, Caitlin Barnett, Joli Vyann and Sonia Sabri, and leading workshops in contemporary floorwork and acrobatics for Rambert and Tripspace and serving as a choreographic assistant for Alethia Antonia.
