Details

Take your knowledge and skill of handmade brooms even farther! This course moves beyond an introduction to broom making and concentrates on full size kitchen Shaker brooms. Students will craft their brooms using either a broom tying table or Shaker stand-up kicker winder from the 1870's. Students will also be able to flat tie their brooms on one of two original 1880’s Shaker broom clamps. Turkey brooms, processing broom corn, and building a broom tying table table will also be discussed. By the end of class, student will leave with at least one full size usable kitchen broom - most students leave with 3 or 4 brooms.. Handmade brooms make a wonderful holiday, wedding or house-warming gift.

While not required, we HIGHLY suggest that students first take Introduction to Broom Craft before this course.
