A workshop for dancers and musicians. A wonderful opportunity to dance with live musicians and to play for live dancing!
Sean-nós dance is ‘old style’ percussive dance from Ireland. It’s really fun, low to the ground, improvised and in the music.
Learn some of the history and customs of this traditional art form, dance steps and improvisational techniques alongside some of the best Irish traditional musicians in Liverpool.
Musicians will learn how to accompany dancers and find natural lift and dynamism in your playing. Musicians are also welcome to join in with the dancing.
Lead by Maria Malone from Movema dance charity and influential fiddle player Mikey Kenney.
Dancers should wear light comfortable clothing and flat shoes, preferably with a hard, smooth sole.
Musicians can bring any instrument they feel confident playing traditional Irish tunes with.
