If you work with children outdoors, come join us to explore the how and the why of spending time outdoors in winter. Find out how to keep it simple and manageable, while also providing quality experiences and opportunities for the children in your care.

Aims:
Spend time connecting with nature using games to take back to setting
Understanding and planning for the challenges and practicalities of taking groups out of setting in winter
Understanding the potential of your space in winter
Time to reflect and share practice and pedagogy with colleagues from other settings
Make links to CfE through observation and reflection
Explore the risks and benefits of outdoor experiences in winter

Dawn Ewan has worked in primary, ASN and early years settings for over twenty years as a class teacher, specialist teacher and early years manager. Dawn has 10 years experience delivering workshops and training through Mucky Boots, as a class teacher and as a freelancer, including working with North East Scotland Outdoor Learning Group and Thrive Outdoors

Dawn left classroom walls and doors behind to open Mucky Boots Nature Kindergarten in 2017. Mucky Boots now provides nature kindergarten sessions for children age 3-8, a Forest Friday session for primary age children who are flexi-schooling or home educating, holiday clubs for 3-16 year olds and training and support for schools and nurseries.

Instructions

Please come dressed for the weather on the day. We will spend the entire session outdoors.

A member of our team will be there to welcome you and show you the way to our play space within Maryculter Woods.
