Grand Scale Trail: Helvellyn

Helvellyn is England’s 3rd highest mountain at 950m / 3,118ft and an iconic Wainwright to climb. Join us on a 15km / 9-mile loop to the summit of Helvellyn.

On this Grand Scale Trail we will ascend from Thirlmere, passing Lower Man before reaching the summit and descending over Nethermost Pike and Dollywaggon Pike (another two Wainwrights) to Grisedale Tarn.

This route is one of the "easier" ways of climbing Helvellyn, without any significant scramble, however, we will be climbing 925m / 3000 ft. Although you don't need to be an experienced hiker, and we will pace it for the slowest member of the group, a good level of fitness is required.

You will be able to experience a true mountain trail with an experienced Mountain Leader, enjoy spectacular views, and ultimately feel an incredible sense of achievement.
