The Art of Rest: The Practice of Slowness

søndag, 6 desember '26   16:00 – 17:30 GMT
Amble, 56 Station Road, Gomshall, Guildford, GU5 9LB

Detaljer

What happens when we allow ourselves to move more slowly?

This gathering explores slowness as a practice of rest creating space for the body to let go of some of the effort it carries through the day.

We will spend time with longer, extended relaxation practices, with particular attention to the places where we often hold tension without noticing: the face, jaw, neck and shoulders.

Through gentle face yoga, conscious relaxation and soothing practices, you will be invited to notice the muscles of the face and upper body, soften unnecessary effort and experience what it feels like to be supported rather than constantly ‘doing’

There is nothing vigorous or demanding here. The emphasis is on slowing down, noticing and allowing.

You can expect:

Gentle face yoga and facial relaxation
Practices to soften the face, jaw, neck and shoulders
Longer periods of guided relaxation
Gentle somatic awareness
Time to slow the breath and settle the body
A calm, nurturing environment with no pressure to perform or achieve
Light refreshments
Ati’s warming golden milk
A homemade sweet treat inspired by Ati’s mother, Fatima
Come as you are. Leave a little softer.

About The Art of Rest

The Art of Rest is a continuing programme of seasonal gatherings curated by Ati for Amble.

Each session explores a different doorway into rest, drawing on gentle somatic practices, restorative movement, guided relaxation and simple rituals of care.

These are not classes where you need to be flexible, experienced or ‘good’ at resting.

There is no right way to rest.

There is simply an invitation to pause, listen to the body and discover what it might need.

About Ati (www.surreyhillswellness.co.uk)

Ati is an integrative and intuitive wellbeing practitioner, drawing on practices she has developed and refined over many years while supporting people through periods of change, stress and transition.

Her work is rooted in lived experience and shaped by a deep belief in rest, listening, connection and community as essential parts of wellbeing.

This is not a space to strive or achieve.
It is an invitation to slow down.
To soften.
And to rest.
