Handmade Wardrobe: Bow Skirt Set Workshop! - Adult Workshop - Ages 17 and up - For Confident Beginners

Spend a weekend creating a handmade outfit you'll be excited to wear all year long!
In this two-day sewing workshop, you'll sew a beautiful matching set featuring the Rosette Top and Ballet Skirt—two modern patterns that pair perfectly together. Along the way, you'll learn garment sewing techniques including topstitching, using a facing, gathering, creating an elastic waistband, and hemming.
We'll also explore ways to customize your outfit, including contrast ties, fabric combinations, length adjustments, and simple design details so your finished set reflects your own style. You'll leave class with an outfit that's uniquely yours!
This class is designed for confident beginners who are ready to move beyond basic sewing projects and make wearable clothing! Jana will provide step-by-step instruction through every stage of the process, from choosing your size and cutting fabric to constructing your garments and adding beautiful finishing details.

This project is for a confident beginner. You are able to use a sewing machine and sew a straight or curved line, and have made some basic projects. If you aren't sure you're ready, we can schedule you for a one-on-one lesson ahead of time to get you up to speed! Send an email to beehiveclasses@gmail.com about private instruction.

Supplies:

• Pre-washed and dried woven fabric. Amount for skirt is 2-3yds and amount for top is 1.5-2.5yds. (Cotton or Linen woven fabric recommended; instructor will contact to confirm amount based on size)
• If you would like to use contrast fabric ties, you will need 1yd additional fabric(s). You could use different fabric scraps to have all different color ties!
• 1-2yd of 1.5" elastic
• 1/4yd Lightweight fusible interfacing
• Coordinating sewing thread
• Measuring Tape
• Water or heat soluble marking pen
• Small scissors or snips
• Straight pins or clips
• Fabric scissors or rotary cutter, mat, and pattern weights
• Bodkin or loop turner (Dritz Loop Turner recommended)
• Metal seam gauge or Hot Hemmer

Optional:

• Serger
• Four cones matching serger thread
• Contrast color thread for topstitching

Teacher: Jana's sewing background is in costume design for theatre and film. Her specialty is in garment making, but has been teaching all kinds of sewing classes for the last 5 years in Austin!

o All students or their Parents/Guardians must sign a waiver before participating in class activities. This should be provided as a check box in your checkout process.
o This class has a 4 person minimum. Class may be cancelled if minimum is not met 48 hours prior to class.
o Beehive Craft Studio reserves the right to cancel a class at any time.
If we do so, you'll be issued a full refund.
o Inclement Weather Policy: We reserve the right to cancel class if we deem that weather would make traveling to class dangerous. Every attempt will be made to schedule a makeup for the missed class.

o Mask Policy: All students are strongly encouraged to wear masks during workshop time if there is a student or teacher requesting masks.

o No refunds for no-shows or cancellations within 48 hours of workshop. Refunds will be processed online within 48 hours of cancellation with the funds going back to your method of payment.
o Everyone works at different speeds and while we expect everyone to finish by the end of the workshop we can't guarantee it!
