This two-day course immersive course introduces winter movement, equipment use, navigation, and safety, giving you the confidence to explore Scotland’s winter hills safely and independently. By the end, you’ll successfully be able to:

• Use winter boots, crampons and an ice axe
• Move safely on snow and ice
• Use ice axe techniques including self-arrest
• Understand mountain weather forecasts
• Interpret avalanche forecasts, hazard levels and avoidance strategies
• Navigate in winter conditionds including poor visibility
• Understand emergency procedures and mountain safety
