Somatic Experiential Play Therapy Mini‑Intensive (3‑Day)

This 3‑day foundational training offers therapists a focused, hands‑on introduction to Somatic Experiential Play Therapy. Participants will see children four times, receive 7 hours of individual supervision, 14 hours of group supervision, and earn 10 CEs. This shorter format provides meaningful clinical practice, somatic integration, and experiential learning while maintaining the core elements that make SEPT intensives so impactful.

Differentiate between normal developmental play and trauma-driven play in play therapy sessions using observable themes and patterns.
Identify at least 4 common play-based metaphors and explain how metaphors support emotional processing in children in play therapy.

1) Explain how the nervous system influences trauma responses in children and how somatic activation, regulation, and incomplete responses appear in play therapy sessions
2) Articulate and explain at least 2 interventions to support the expression and/or completion of a fight response during a Somatic Experiential Play Therapy Session.
3) Name the 5 different types of responses to implement during a Somatic Experiential Play Therapy session.
4) Describe at least 2 ways for a play therapist to ground themselves during difficult play therapy sessions.
