This class encourages moving with ease, personal expression and joyful creativity. It draws on Release Technique and Somatics, two areas of Contemporary Dance.
Creative Contemporary sessions will fine tune your awareness to your weight, breath and the flow of movement. Guided by a singular idea or anatomical focus, you will gradually find complexity and depth in your dancing; playful exploration will inspire confidence to expand on form, rhythm and dynamism. We will then share and enjoy our creative discoveries together through partner work and group dances.
Attending Class at SDS
We recommend you bring a water bottle, and wear loose clothing or something that you feel comfortable moving in. In our Creative Contemporary classes we ask that you dance in bare feet, socks or inside shoes will be at the teacher's discretion. Please do not attend class if you are feeling unwell.

Siobhan Davies Studios is mostly accessible to wheelchair users, with lifts to all floors. Our main door is power assisted. There are two accessible parking spaces available on site which can be booked in advance.
Please note that our disabled toilets may not be suitable for all users (the toilets in our disabled toilets are 42cm high) and our changing facilities and showers are not fully accessible. Our closest publicly available and fully accessible changing facility is at The Castle Centre, a leisure centre 0.3 miles away from the studios. You can find full details of their features here.
