Discover how fashion can be both creative and sustainable by designing and making your own patchwork denim corset from reclaimed fabrics.

Over four inspiring days, students will transform donated denim offcuts and fabric scraps from local fashion designers into a one-of-a-kind corset top. They'll explore the principles of upcycling and zero-waste fashion while learning professional dressmaking techniques used throughout the fashion industry.

Students will experiment with combining different shades, textures and washes of denim to create a completely unique garment, proving that beautiful fashion doesn't have to come from brand-new materials.

Suitable for beginners with some sewing confidence as well as more experienced young makers, projects will be adapted to suit individual ability.

Students will learn how to:
Design a unique patchwork layout
Sew fabric panels together accurately
Work with denim and heavier-weight fabrics
Adapt and use a corset pattern
Construct a fully lined garment
Improve sewing machine skills and garment finishing techniques
Explore sustainable fashion and textile upcycling
These are valuable skills used in professional fashion, costume and garment design.

By the end of the workshop, you'll leave with:
A bespoke patchwork denim corset made entirely by you
Greater confidence using a sewing machine
An understanding of sustainable fashion and upcycling techniques
A digital certificate of completion

♻️ Sustainability at the heart of fashion
All denim and fabric used in this workshop has been generously donated by local fashion designers and industry partners, giving beautiful materials a second life while encouraging thoughtful, responsible design.
