Bring the family to Sandwich Bay on Tuesday 28 July to take part in a beach clean and earn an ice cream as part of National Marine Week!
Spend a meaningful afternoon with Wardens and Education Officers from WCCP, Sandwich Bay Bird Observatory, and Kent Wildlife Trust to explore the incredible wildlife of this internationally important coastal area, and take action to protect it.
Come along and learn about the diverse plants and animals that call Sandwich Bay home while you roll up your sleeves for a rewarding beach clean to help preserve this precious habitat, and get rewarded for your hard work.
If you have gardening/work gloves or your own litter picker, please bring them!
Children under 16 are welcome to attend but must be accompanied by an adult who is able to encourage and help them with the activities.
The event will last approximately 3 hours in total. We are expecting to be litter picking on the beach for approximately 2 hours, with half an hour each side for briefing, debriefing, and eating ice cream!
This event is free, but please book a ticket so we can send relevant information, and updates.

Meeting point:
Prince’s Golf Club are kindly hosting facilities for the beach clean, so our introduction briefing will be held at Prince’s Lodge in Sandwich Bay, perfectly placed to head out onto the beach and get picking!

Parking:
Access and parking during the event have kindly been arranged by Prince's Golf Club and the Sandwich Bay Estate - instructions will be emailed to attendees prior to the event.
If you are planning to visit the beach before or after the event, you must park in the car park on Princes Drive and pay the Sandwich Bay Estate toll charge (more information at Sandwich Bay (Residents) Ltd – Admission Charges.
You can enter Sandwich Bay on foot or by bicycle for free.
Dogs:
On this occasion, due to the nature of the site as well as the event, we ask that you kindly leave your four-legged friends at home.
Facilities:
Toilet and café facilities have kindly been made available in Prince’s Golf Club Lodge.
Accessibility:
Unfortunately, the pathway to the beach and the shingle beach itself at Sandwich Bay are not easily accessible to wheelchair users or pushchairs.
The ground is uneven, and there is some minor incline and decline on the beach. There are very limited sitting opportunities except in the Lodge.
Weather & Clothing:
If you have gardening or work gloves, or your own litter picker, please bring them!
Please wear appropriate clothing for the day’s weather: ensure you bring adequate layers if the weather is chilly, sun cream, sunglasses, and cover if it is sunny, and bring waterproofs for the everchanging British weather.
Please wear sturdy, sensible shoes – the ground is uneven.
Bring water and food if needed.
