Learn to See: Drawing with Anton Chapman

Drawing is one of the most direct and personal ways to respond to the world around us. It helps us slow down, look more closely, and connect what we see with what we feel. As Paul Cézanne suggested, “nature is within us” — drawing is a way of bringing that inner response to the surface.

In this course, you’ll explore how to translate what you observe into expressive, confident drawings. We’ll focus on the relationship between careful looking and personal interpretation, helping you develop both skill and sensitivity in your work.

You’ll build a strong foundation in observational drawing by working from a range of subjects, including plaster casts and still life setups. Along the way, you’ll experiment with different drawing materials and techniques, discovering what works best for you.

Whether you’re new to drawing or looking to strengthen your practice, this course offers a supportive space to develop your eye, your hand, and your creative voice.
NB: Please remember to bring materials from the course "materials list" online.
