A two-day course focussing on improving numeracy skills and wellbeing through play in nature
Free for KS1 & 2 TAs working in Flintshire settings.
Designed to complement the Community Focussed Schools project and empower TAs with additional skills and knowledge to help children and their families.
This course provides ideas, research and loads of practical activities to enrich numeracy skills and holistic wellbeing through nature. You will also make at least one resource from natural materials to take back to your setting.
You will learn skills that you can share with your pupils, families and colleagues.
The training is led by teacher and experienced Wellbeing in Nature Practitioner Vanessa Warrington and takes place at Halkyn Castle Wood, NE Wales.
What does the training involve?
Two days hands-on learning at Halkyn Castle Wood and resources to use in your setting.
Certificate of CPD on completion.

Training is outdoors so please wear/ bring appropriate clothing, sturdy boots and waterproofs.
Please bring packed lunch and snacks each day and water. We will be doing some cooking on the fire and making hot drinks.
Location
Pop Travelodge Halkyn in SATNAV as postcode takes you to nearby farm. When you get to the mini roundabout turn off for the Travelodge car park. At the top of the hill you will see sign for Halkyn Castle Wood and Alpha 55. Follow that drive to the house, turn left under the height barrier (2m ring if you need it opening). Continue up drive to park near the shower block on the left.

Directions to site:
We are located at Halkyn Castle Woods. You access us westbound off the A55 between the Northop and Halkyn exits. The exit is for the Travelodge, Burger King and Greggs. Drive as if going into the Travelodge car park and you will see the sign for Halkyn Castle Wood caravan park and Alpha 55.
Follow the drive to the house and bear left, go under the height barrier (2m) and past the caravan field on your right. You will see the car park on the left near the shower block. Park here and a member of staff will meet you at the start of the session.
