START LOCATION - Sandsend Car Park, behind the "Wits End" Cafe, Sandsend, North Yorkshire, YO21 3TG

DURATION - 3-4 hours
This tour is aimed at those with some level of experience and an above average level of mobility. Around 2 miles of walking involved, including steep steps, sometimes muddy trails and potentially slippery rock platforms. Sandsend is a classic fossil location on the Yorkshire Coast and your qualified Earth Science guide combines academic knowledge with 15-20 years of collecting experience of the terrain. They will be give invaluable experience and advice on safety and be at hand to identify any finds or help reveal them from rocks.
We travel north along the old railway, past old alum working and find our way to the beach via well maintained footpath along a picturesque waterfall that locals call "the donkey path". Once at beach level our tour guide will help you find some interesting fossils and explain how to hunt for the local gemstone - Whitby Jet.
