Overview
Build strong foundations in French grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation, and gain the tools to start communicating with confidence.
Have you always wanted to learn French but never known where to begin? Perhaps you remember a little from school but would struggle to hold a basic conversation?
This friendly and practical 10-week course will guide you through the essential foundations of the French language in a relaxed and supportive small-group environment.
You will learn how French works - not simply memorise a collection of phrases. Through a balanced combination of grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, listening and speaking practice, you will gradually develop the tools you need to understand the language, form your own sentences and start communicating with confidence.
What will you learn?
Throughout the course, we will cover:
Lessons will include clear explanations, guided exercises, role plays, working in pairs and group activities, giving you plenty of opportunities to practise what you have learned.
By the end of the course, you will be able to introduce yourself and talk about your daily life, make travel and other arrangements, ask and answer simple questions and handle common situations while travelling in France.
More importantly, you will have developed a solid understanding of essential French grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation, giving you the tools to continue learning and speak with greater confidence.
Who is this course for?
No previous knowledge is required. The course is open to adults aged 18 and over.
French will be introduced progressively from the very first lesson, with explanations in English whenever needed. You will never be expected to understand everything immediately - the aim is to build your knowledge and confidence gradually over the ten weeks.
A small, friendly and supportive group
The course is limited to just eight participants, allowing everyone to receive individual guidance and take an active part in each lesson.
Classes will take place in a private function room at The Windmill Pub in Brighton, offering a more informal and welcoming alternative to a traditional classroom. You can learn, practise and meet other French learners in a relaxed social environment.
