** Why we do it **
We do it because nearly 1.5 million UK families can’t afford a single day out together. We do it because 50% of families with disabled children say that the stigma and discrimination they face makes them feel isolated. We create a magical world, harnessing the power of the circus and invite families with all kinds of different needs to have fun together in a safe, welcoming and unique atmosphere.

What is a relaxed circus performance?
Our circus shows are for families with differing needs. Our aim is to create a truly inclusive and relaxed environment. Our staff will offer a warm welcome and help you. The show is a traditional circus show but with toned down lights, quieter music and clapping. There are no motorbikes or loud bangs in the show but there is sometimes fire and costumed characters. You are free to leave and re-enter the Big Top or theatre during the performance. Ear defenders can be worn and we have some pairs to loan for free if you’ve forgotten yours.
We believe in a world where absolutely anything is possible. We understand that attending mainstream events can be difficult for children with additional needs or families in difficult circumstances – which is why we’ve created a tut-free zone; a show in which shouting out, dancing and jumping up and down are expected. At our shows, everyone is absolutely encouraged to let go, and just be themselves!
As one of the pioneers of ‘relaxed’ shows, you’ll find our performances have reduced volumes and considered lighting, with special attention paid to sensory and emotional triggers.

Please call the Circus Starr office on 01260 288690 between 9am and 5pm. Wheelchair spaces MUST be reserved.
How long is the performance?
The running time of the show is about 1½ hours including a 15 minute interval.

On tour with a changing places toilet
A RevoLOOtion vehicle will be joining us on tour! This Changing Places toilet has a hoist, changing bench, and plenty of space to change making Circus Starr more accessible to those with more complex needs.
