RYA VHF/SRC Course (ONLINE)

This is the online version of the RYA VHF/SRC - hosted on the RYA Interactive Site.

Taking this course online enables you to study and learn the content in an interactive way at your own pace, and in a time frame that suites you.

Which ever way you choose to learn (Classroom based course or Online), the VHF/SRC Radio Course and exam is for anyone who owns a fixed or handheld marine VHF radio.

A marine radio is an important piece of safety equipment on board a boat and it is vital to understand the correct procedures to use this equipment properly.

The Short Range Certificate is the minimum qualification required by law to control the operation of VHF and VHF Digital Selective Calling (DSC) equipment on any British flagged vessel voluntarily fitted with a radio either fixed or hand held.

Anyone wanting to commercially endorse an RYA/MCA Certificate of competence certificate requires an SRC licence as part of this application process. Similarly a number of boat clubs and charter companies require members to hold an SRC Licence in order to take charge/skipper one of their vessels.

• When do you run exams - You can join one of our Exams running at a weekend course. Alternatively, we might be able to offer a bespoke 1:1 weekday evening exam - please call before booking for details (subject to availability).

• Duration (Exam) Optional: 1hr-2hrs depending on group size.
• Exam Validity: Lifetime
