Details

The Waikato/ Bay of Plenty Employment Law Committee presents an opportunity to explore the intersection between Tikanga me te Ture ā Mahi – Tikanga and Employment Law on Thursday 11 April from 12:30pm- 1:30pm.

This one-hour CPD session to be held in-person and online will enable participants to:
• develop a basic understanding of what tikanga is;
• be exposed to recent case law where tikanga has been considered by the Courts, including the NZEmpC;
• learn about ways that tikanga and tikanga concepts can guide our everyday practice including within investigations and disciplinary processes.

Participants are welcome to submit questions in advance to be explored, during, or at the end of the session.

Participants should acknowledge that the presenters and facilitator are not tikanga experts but work frequently in this space. The focus of this presentation is to raise awareness and understanding of how tikanga fits in this context, and approaches that can assist in the concept of “do no further harm” as discussed during the 2022 Employment Conference.

Presented by Renika Siciliano of McCaw Lewis and Toni Stanaway, EMA Consultant, and facilitated by Alexandria Till of Harkness Henry.
