Our three term, 30 week course for beginners is based on the English Bridge Union’s ‘Bridge for All’ programme, using the Acol bidding system. It is a carefully structured course that starts out by assuming no previous knowledge of cards whatsoever, although it is also suitable for anyone who has played a little Bridge with friends and wants to learn more. The cost is £80 per term plus £20 for the EBU's course book.
Each week's class includes some gentle teaching and a lot of practice, so that right from the beginning you will be playing cards with your fellow students for at least half of each two-hour lesson. By the end of the course you'll be ready to join in one of our weekly club games that are specially designed for new players.
At the start of the first term we ask you to buy your own copy of the course book produced by the EBU (£20), giving you an invaluable reference guide to bidding and play as well as extra practice exercises you can do outside the class. All other teaching materials and student notes will be included in the course fee and your teacher will have been trained in their effective use. The coursebook contains a form to send to the EBU to gain free membership for one year.
