Incorporating Faith into EMDR Therapy

Overview: We work with lots of folks who don’t realize their spiritual foundation is a powerful AIP gift. Let’s help clients by incorporating into treatment planning and processing their spiritual strengths.

Course Description: This is an advanced workshop. A primary focus is on assessing and accessing the clients’ AIP in terms of their spiritual identity. A significant amount of time and focus will be spent on Phase I and II. Specifically, trainees will learn to take a spiritual history, and to use RDI to enhance a felt sense of God. Lastly, the complexities of developing strong Negative Cognitions, Positive Cognitions and Cognitive Interweaves with clients’ who are struggling spiritually will be taught.

Learning Objectives: Knowledge: Trainees will:
Discuss how to assess a client’s spiritual trauma.
Explore the importance of the AIP model from a spiritual perspective.
Examine how to assess the blocks that interfere with the client’s access to a felt sense of God.
Apply new information to accessing a felt sense of God.
Learn to develop strong Negative Cognitions and Positive Cognitions and Cognitive Interweaves.

Skills: Trainees will:
Practice incorporating a felt sense of God into an AIP History Taking.
Practice acting as therapist and client and Resource an enhanced sense of self and God.
Examine scenarios and determine strong NC’s, PC’s and Cognitive Interweaves
