In this class you will have demonstrations by the tutor and learn the basic techniques of hand building sculptural pieces. Planning and research will be discussed and surface treatments such as applying texture, washes and colour will be explored.
You can do a class project with the tutor demonstrating or work on an individual project with support and encouragement.
You will also get an opportunity to decorate with underglazes and experiment with different surface treatments, making your creations uniquely yours.

Clay and tools will need to be purchased for this class. This is in the vicinity of $52 - $60 and should last the whole term.
Firings are paid separately, this will be explained by your tutor.

Please wear comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty,
Please bring your own apron and an old towel to class. You are also able to hire an apron and towel for a $10 laundering fee - please ask your tutor about hiring these when you arrive.

Remove rings and jewellery

We cannot offer make-up classes if you are absent. Your tutor will do their best to catch you up when you return.
All completed work must be collected from The Clay Centre within 6 weeks of receiving your collection email. Work will not be stored after 6 weeks due to space constraints.
