Collaborative Delivery and Co-Facilitation

Effective co-facilitation begins before we enter the training room. It grows through thoughtful preparation, clear communication and a willingness to support one another.

This interactive workshop explores how to build strong training partnerships with colleagues, subject matter experts, experienced caregivers and regional CFS staff. Through reflection, realistic scenarios and practical exercises, participants will practise coordinating delivery, sharing responsibility and responding together when a session takes an unexpected turn.

We will also explore the preferences we bring to working with others: how we prepare, communicate, balance structure and flexibility, share the lead, and give and receive feedback. Understanding these preferences helps us make expectations clear, appreciate different approaches and recognize when we need to adapt to support our partners and learners.

Participants will explore ways to navigate tension, reach shared decisions and maintain supportive relationships as team dynamics change. They will leave with a practical planning template to guide conversations and agreements before their next shared delivery.

Learning objectives
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize personal preferences in preparation, communication and facilitation, and describe how these may influence a training partnership.
  • Build collaborative partnershipsthat value different forms of knowledge, experience and expertise.
  • Develop shared delivery agreements that clarify roles, responsibilities, handovers and support needs.
  • Practise mutual support strategies, including smooth transitions, agreed cues, and ways to request, offer and receive help.
  • Work through tension and reach agreement using respectful dialogue, shared learning goals and clear decision responsibilities.
  • Respond to changing team dynamicsthrough check-ins, constructive feedback and adjustments that support both facilitators and learners.
