This Night Navigation Course is designed to equip participants with the skills and confidence to navigate safely and effectively in low light conditions. It emphasizes hands-on, practical learning in a controlled environment, ensuring participants leave with the ability to find their way in the dark.
These courses run through the autumn months, when we have early darkness. This means we can make of the most of our time on the hill at a reasonable hour. These courses run from 3:00pm until around 10:00pm roughly.
We will meet at Borrowdale YHA and use the Bessy Boot and Tarn at Leaves areas above. This area has some good pathless and often boggy terrain, which can be 'featureless' and requires good contour interpretation and solid skills with pacing and timing on each leg.
The journey on the day is no more than 8km with one steep uphill section.
