Contact Improvisation doesn’t have a set vocabulary; it is essentially an exploration. However, there are typical movement patterns and encounters between two moving bodies that can be taught as starting points for exploration. In these three sessions we will practise a range of these patterns as a foundation for exploring the central principles of Contact Improvisation — giving and receiving weight, working with the floor, and navigating the shifting relationship between leading and following.
Drawing on Tamar’s experience as a performer, teacher and practitioner, this series of three classes invites curiosity, attentiveness and responsiveness, using these shared movement experiences as a way to deepen awareness of the body, our partners, and the space between us.
About Tamar:
Tamar Daly is an experienced performer and teacher whose practice is rooted in cultivating a highly ‘present’ and responsive body, alongside a broad and diverse physical expressiveness. Contact Improvisation has been central to her practice, both as a professional dancer and as a way of connecting with others through movement in community settings.
