Creators’ Day Workshop

A day of photography, lighting and creative exploration

Join me on Sunday 31st January 2027, from 11am to 4pm, at Aura Studios in Weedon Bec, Northampton, for my first Creators’ Day Workshop, in partnership with Nanlite and PMI Gear.

Designed for photographers of all experience levels, this practical workshop brings together professional models, creative lighting and atmospheric effects in a supportive studio environment. Whether you’re finding your confidence with studio lighting or looking for fresh inspiration, the day will give you opportunities to experiment, ask questions and create images for your portfolio.

We’ll explore three different approaches to image-making:

Dance Photography

Discover how lighting, movement and timing come together to create striking dance images. You’ll work with a professional model to explore poses, shape and expression, with guidance on capturing the moment.

Portrait Photography

Explore how the position, direction and quality of light can transform a portrait. We’ll work through lighting choices and ways to connect with your subject, helping you create considered images with character and impact.

Creative Concept photography

Bring lighting and atmosphere together to create something more adventurous. Using the Smoke Ninja Pro V2 Hazer Kits from PMI Gear, we’ll explore how haze interacts with light to introduce depth, reveal beams and build mood within a scene.

Throughout the workshop, you’ll get hands-on experience using the latest lighting from Nanlite. Each shoot will include a walkthrough of the lights and setup, explaining what each fixture contributes, where it is positioned and why. You’ll have time to put that understanding into practice, make your own photographs and explore how different choices affect the result.

Professional models will be involved throughout the day, giving you the opportunity to practise communication and creative direction while building your portfolio. It’s also a chance to meet fellow photographers, network with the models and make connections that could lead to future collaborations.

With attendance limited to eight photographers, the workshop will offer a small-group experience with time for individual guidance, questions and shooting. Tea, coffee and refreshments will be provided, so there’ll be opportunities to take a break and chat between setups.
