Young Designers - Age 9-16 Block 5 All Terrain Model Vehicle Challenge

YD focuses on products for people and purposes. We use Design Skills to research, organise, sketch, communicate, market and plan our products. We use high quality modelling, manufacturing and finishing processes.

Block 1 - Laser Cutting/Engraving - explore all the ways you can decorate a product for a particular market using the laser. This includes engraving products, creating promotional products, desk tidies, pen holders, toothbrush holders, puzzles, jigsaws - the list is endless.

Block 2 - Lighting - Design LED lighting to produce creative ornaments and nightlights for children's bedrooms, Christmas and other celebrations

Block 3 - Jewellery - and personal wear. Learn CAD CAM to design an artefact then cast it in pewter and polish it until it gleams! Add chains, cords, clasps etc.

Block 4 - Props- design and make products to look realistic for films and animations. Start building one of our kits then paint and distress it to look used and worn. Maybe use it to make a movie or photo.

Block 5 - Mechanisms into products: ATV -All terrain vehicle challenge - make and customise a geared buggy to negotiate various surfaces leading to an outdoor challenge. Build our kit and design the best wheels to tackle the terrain to win the race.

Block 6 - Electronics in products - design and make exciting products using widgets and gizmos such as clocks, voice recorders and cameras.
