Details

Property Law Section Deputy Chair, Kristine King will host presenters Gene Turner, Managing Director - LawHawk and Robert Metcalf, Deputy Registrar-General of Land - Toitū Te Whenua LINZ, as they take us through a real-life digital signing scenario in a property transaction.

Kristine “the practitioner” will be guided by Gene “the tech guru”, with Robert “the regulator” to ensure compliance with LINZ’s identity verification requirements and the Contract and Commercial Law Act 2017. There will be an interactive role play, with a practical and visual depiction of the process. They will also explain how the requirement for non-repudiation is met.

This webinar is a follow up to the Updated A & I Requirements for E-dealing Standard and Guideline 2024 webinar, held in November last year.

Learning aims:

  • understand how digital signing works in a property transaction
  • learn what is compliant when signing digitally, and what’s not
  • gain an awareness of different digital signing products
  • learn how to tag documents to make signing easier for clients
  • learn how to help clients prepare for and navigate the “digital signing” meeting, disclosure versus the signing process.

Who should attend:

  • property lawyers
  • registered legal executives and property support staff
  • managing partners, practice managers, decision-makers considering whether to make an investment in digital signing technology.
