Shala of Sacred Sound
Sound, Gong, Meditation and Somatic facilitator

The Shala of Sacred Sound is an organisation focused on introducing local community into a safe and welcoming environment where they are able to explore their spiritual self as dynamic energy in motion.

The aim of the Shala is to bring different disciplines of sound and frequency to community - through for example gongs chanting, drumming and movement; we use these ways to shift and open channels to awareness.

Carefully selected facilitators are regularly invited to hold concerts and workshops at the Shala that help us to explore the ideas and concepts behind frequency so that we can dive deeper into the expansive nature of consciousness.

ABOUT RAWIA

Rawia’s love of sound and movement for spiritual growth started over 20 years ago. She has traveled extensively in India, living over 10 years immersed in the culture of the continent. Her love of Kirtan began in the 90’s and she has been chanting ever since.

After returning to the UK she recognised a need to make this beautiful, heart opening practise, as well as gongs and shamanic journeying, more available in the north west of England.

As well be as being a qualified Kirtan leader, she is a Gong Practitioner (CoSH), Trauma Informed Yoga Teacher, Reiki Practitioner and trained Naturopathic Nutritionist.

She offers and guides through gong and sound frequency, Kirtan, shamanic journey, drumming, trauma informed yoga, movement medicine, meditation and reiki; all from a safe, supported space for potential individual expansion to occur.

Kirtan is a form of bhakti (BHAK-tee), the yoga of devotion; jnana (gyah-nah), the yoga of wisdom; and mantra, the yoga of sound. Mantras are words, phrases, and syllables that are repeated until they become integrated into the chanter’s consciousness. Today, many people are discovering that this sacred, traditional practice allows them to access inner peace, calm, connection, and non-thinking. As a form of meditation, it is easy and effortless to do, and as we allow the music to do the work, we can shift our attention inwards. The practise allows us to connect deeply with ourselves and the people around us. It can be a fantastic remedy for many number of things from stress, to sleep disorders, depression, and anxiety.

Gong baths allow us to immerse ourselves fully in the healing and restorative frequency of sound. these frequency’s can awaken dormant energy within the body and allow us to enter deep states of relaxation and meditation.
