This certified course is delivered by Paramedical First Aid. It is a two day course, lasting 12 hours in total, plus breaks.
This course is designed for anyone who is responsible for the welfare of children, including nannies, teachers, youth workers, leisure staff and parents.
This course meets the first aid requirements of Ofsted for the Early Years Foundation Stage standards, the National Child-minding Association and the Pre-School Learning Alliance.
Course content:
Plan for first aid emergencies
Deal with emergencies
Perform resuscitation
Recognise and deal with shock
Recognise and respond appropriately to anaphylactic shock
Recognise and respond appropriately to electric shock
Recognise and respond appropriately to bleeding
Respond appropriately to burns and scalds
Respond appropriately to choking
Respond appropriately to suspected fractures
Respond appropriately to head, neck and back injuries
Recognise and respond appropriately to cases of poisoning
Respond appropriately to foreign bodies in eyes, ears and noses
Respond appropriately to eye injuries
Respond appropriately to bites and stings
Respond appropriately to effects of extreme heat and cold
Respond appropriately to febrile convulsions
Recognise and respond appropriately to the emergency needs of chronic medical conditions including: epilepsy, asthma, sickle cell, and diabetes
Recognise and respond appropriately to serious sudden illness
Please bring a packed lunch.
This course will require a certain amount of physical activity and you will need to demonstrate CPR techniques from the floor in a group environment. This is essential to pass this course. If anyone can not complete the CPR part of the course a certificate of attendance will be issued.
Please ensure you wear sensible (flat) shoes or trainers and suitable loose fit clothing. Skirts/dresses are not advisable.
Please be aware to pass regulated courses the learners need to attend all the course. 15 minutes at the start of a course can be missed in exceptional circumstances as long as the learner is happy to catch up on a break.
