An evening of performance and conversation, presenting the inspirational journey of Kavina Pound: from bedroom dancer to Southbank Centre performer.

Kavina is a dance artist with dyspraxia and arthritis, who entered the profession late in life. This Live Archive presents her 2017 monograph which describes how her journey has been one almighty battle. The evening will include an improvised performance drawing from Kavina’s dance career, and a conversation with Ellis Legg and Roland Carline.

This event will take place in the Roof Studio.

Event Schedule
This event is scheduled to last 4 hours. We anticipate it will end by 9pm. There will be regular breaks.

  • 5pm: Arrivals with drinks and snacks
  • 6pm: Kavina presents her monograph
  • 6.30pm: 15-minute break
  • 6.45pm: Performance
  • 7pm: 15-minute break
  • 7.15pm: Conversation
  • 8pm: Socialising and networking

Access and Content

  • This event will be BSL interpreted by Samuel Rojas.
  • This is a relaxed event. Audiences are free to enter and leave throughout. There will be a designated Quiet Space in the building.
  • This event will touch on themes of medical diagnosis and discrimination.

Siobhan Davies Studios is mostly accessible to wheelchair users, with lifts to all floors. Our main door is power assisted. There are two accessible parking spaces available on site which can be booked in advance.

Please note that our disabled toilets may not be suitable for all users (the toilets in our disabled toilets are 42cm high) and our changing facilities and showers are not fully accessible. Our closest publicly available and fully accessible changing facility is at The Castle Centre, a leisure centre 0.3 miles away from the studios. You can find full details of their features here.
