A Taster session in Creative/Integrated Audio Description for Queer Dance Artists with Quiplash

This is an online event.

Joining instructions will be provided after booking.

Details

In this session we will explore what it means to integrate creative audio description into dance work. This will include a quick introduction into what audio description is and how it can be used as a creative access tool to support blind and visually impaired audiences. Through practical exercises (some of which will include light movement) participants will think about how to integrate AD into their work in a way that both provides access and presents a creative tone that matches and uplifts the art/performance it describes. We will also help point folks to other places they can go to for more extensive training in AD.

Quiplash is a queer, disability led performance project headed by actual queer crip married couple Al and Amelia Lander-Cavallo. They do performance and art making such as with their ongoing project Unsightly Drag and Friends, a cabaret and drag show that features Deaf and disabled queer performers. They also work as access consultants with a specialism in integrated audio description.

Instructions

The sessions will be intensive but run in a relaxed way. By this we mean there will be a lot of information in the session, but how/if you interact with it is up to you. There will be time for questions at the end!
