Shibari is a form of bondage that originated in Japan (sometimes also called Kinbaku or Japanese bondage). The word “shibari” literally translates as “to tie” refers to intricate and beautiful knots and patterns used to restrain and feel/give bodily sensations.
FOR WHO?
Rope Jam is dedicated for beginners, intermediate and advanced riggers - those who tie themselves, and who previously attended my shibari class or had experience with shibari elsewhere.
It is a protected space where you can polish your rope skills, share your ideas with others and meet likeminded rope enthusiats from the local area.
This is not a formal workshops where specific topic will be taught, but I will be happy to supervise and guide you if you have doubts or concerns about safety.
WHAT IS IT NOT?
This is NOT a play space.
This is also NOT a pick up opportunity.
Everyone no matter what gender, ethnicity, bakcground is welcome – this is a protected space for everyone to enjoy themselves.
Respectful, supportive and friendly behaviour is essential. Therer’s no space to abuse or discrimination in this rope jam space. There’s no competition either – you all are the best versions of yourself and here you can learn and improve your new skill under my supervision and with support of everyone else in this space.
FAQ:
What should I wear? - This is not a kinky event, not fetish wear is allowed at this time. Please wear comfortable clothes that enable you to move freely and won't get cought by rope. I would suggest something close to your skin such as leggings for bottom part of your body, or shorts so you can tie directly on your skin, and maybe tighter tops/tshirt for upper body
Do I need to have my own ropes for this workshops? -If you have your own ropes please bring them along. I will provide limited amount of practice rope on the day of the jam, it will have to be returned once you complete the course. If you want to buy ropes from me, please let me know as I have a discount for people who attend my classes.
SOME BASIC RULES:
Don’t take pictures of other without explicit consent. If you take a photo of yourself or your partner, please make sure to ask those around you if they mind being in the photograph, and if they are not, please make sure to do not capture other in the picture.
Please don’t touch people’s stuff such as their ropes, their gear, clothes etc. Respect other's belongings.
Ask for permission if you would like to watch other people tie, and try not to interrupt people while they're tying either.
It is a studio that is close to the public space, please be mindful and don’t make excessive noise.
Under no circumstances can you participate in the rope jam if you are under the influence of alcohol, drugs or any illegal substances that may put you or others at risk. If I have any reasons to believe that you are under the influence of any of the substances listed above I will have to ask you to leave the studio space withtout a refund and with the possibility of being banned from joining events that I facilitate again in the future.
