Class Description

Two masters of the craft jointly provide interactive demonstrations on technique and provide feedback on student work. Each teacher shares their own perspective. This makes for an extraordinarily rich learning environment as the students engage in a fourteen week creative journey with the other class members and the two highly established professionals.

Towards the end of the semester the special industry guest will review student work.

About Scott Fischer

​​Scott Fischer’s illustration has won acclaim in many parts of the contemporary illustration world. He has illustrated multiple #1 New York Times best selling books, including Peter Pan in Scarlet, Between the Lines, and the Magesterium series. He has produced numerous comic covers for Dark Horse comics’ Buffy the Vampire Slayer franchise. His book cover clients include: Simon & Schuster, Tor, Harper Collins, Scholastic, Penguin, Del Rey, Random House, and Daw. He has illustrated three children’s books for Simon & Schuster including Jump, which has three million copies in print. Scott is also well known for his gaming illustration for clients including Magic the Gathering, Dungeons and Dragons, World of Warcraft, and League of Legends. As a concept artist he has worked for Microsoft, Disney’s Tron franchise, and Cartoon Network.

About Greg Manchess

During Greg's forty year long illustration career his artwork has graced movies, book covers, magazines, advertising campaigns, and the walls of galleries and museums. His illustration clients include: National Geographic, Time, Atlantic Monthly, the Smithsonian, and the U.S. Postal service. He exhibits regularly at the Society of Illustrators and has earned their highest honor, the Hamilton King Award. He also has regular solo shows at Galerie Daniel Maghen in Paris. Greg’s paintings featured prominently in the Cohen Brother’s 2018 movie The Ballad of Buster Scruggs. In 2017 Greg's book Above the Timberline was published by Simon & Schuster. For this work Greg created 124 oil paintings, thirty of which were then organized into a solo exhibition at the Norman Rockwell Museum. Greg’s work is included in Walter Reed’s definitive history of illustration The Illustrator in America 1860-2000.
