Overview
Discover the expressive power of acrylic landscapes, inspired by the vibrant styles of Paul Cézanne, Camille Pissarro, and Vincent van Gogh. This immersive five-week course invites you to explore the natural world through colour, form, and brushwork, while creating a quadtych (set of 4) acrylic-painted coasters that reflect a landscape of your choice. With a maximum of eight students per class, you’ll enjoy focused guidance and a warm, supportive learning environment designed to nurture both confidence and creativity. All necessary materials and equipment will be provided by the studio, just bring your creativity!

Learning Aims
• Explore the styles of Cézanne, Pissarro, and Van Gogh, while focusing on your own landscape focus.
• Observe and sketch different landscape forms.
• Mix complementary acrylics and experiment with texture-building techniques
• Create a quadtych (four-piece) set of landscape coasters.

Weekly Breakdown
Week 1: Introduction to Cézanne, Pissarro, and Van Gogh with acrylic working methods.
Week 2: Sketching landscape elements and defining texture.
Week 3: Planning your chosen landscape and building base colours.
Week 4: Developing main elements of your chosen landscape.
Week 5: Final refinements and details.

Course Planning & Teaching
Our courses are thoughtfully designed and taught by Kitty, Creative Director and Founder of Springwood Barn. A fully qualified teacher with 17 years of experience, Kitty is fully insured, certified in First Aid, and holds an enhanced DBS check, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all learners.

Each project introduces students to a renowned artist and their creative influences, encouraging personal interpretation and creative growth. By drawing from both historical and contemporary sources, students build technical skill and artistic confidence, culminating in a unique and expressive final artwork.

This structured approach balances technical learning with creative autonomy, empowering students to experiment, develop their own style, and grow in their artistic practice.

Materials
Tea and Coffee will be provided during the session including a home made treat.

Arrival
Please arrive at least 5 minutes before the session starts to settle in and prepare for your workshop.

Parking & Access
On-site parking is available. The Studio is located on Petworth Road, directly opposite Holdfast Lane. Signage will be in place on the day of the event. Please follow the signs to reach the barn. For further details, kindly refer to the location and map information provided.

Springwood Barn is located at Springwood Farm, 85 Petworth Road, Haslemere. The entrance to the farm is through Springwood House, opposite the end of Holdfast Lane, next to a bus stop.

🚗 Arrival & Entry

  • Please use the main house entrance opposite Holdfast Lane.
  • As you enter through the main house gate, turn left towards the farm.

  • Parking is available in clearly marked spaces on the farm site.
  • Kindly park considerately to ensure access for other visitors and farm vehicles.

  • Springwood Farm is a working farm, and the surrounding land is in regular use.
