safeTALK is a community-based suicide alertness training programme that will prepare participants to be suicide alert helpers, regardless of prior experience or training. The aim of safeTALK is to help learners a) identify persons with thoughts of suicide b) connect them to suicide first aid resources. This training will equip members of the community to recognise signs of suicidal distress and develop their language around mental health and suicide prevention to empower a person with thoughts of suicide to avail of further supports.
To Note:
Please be aware of the emotional nature of the content of our training and take time to self-care after training; see www.yourmentalhealth.ie for more information. If you have been bereaved by suicide or affected by suicidal behaviour in the recent past, please attend only when you feel emotionally ready to do so.
A certificate of attendance will be issued on completion of the full programme. This training may be eligible for CPD points from your accrediting body. Please contact them directly for further details.
We would ask that you only book a training place if you are certain you can attend on that date and in that county, this is so that we can avoid reduced numbers on the day of training. While the training is free to you as a participant, it is delivered at a cost to the HSE.
