This is an opportunity to view some parts of this very special building that are rarely seen or hidden in plain sight.
This will include remaining medieval paintings with which the Cathedral would have been covered in the 12th century.
We will let you know which places that we visit can be seen at other times, once you know where and how to look.
After the Tour there will also be the facility to visit the Cathedral Library for anyone on the Tour who asks for this. The Cathedral Library is usually open to the public on Monday and Friday afternoons.
The Cathedral Shop in the nave will be open on the day of the Tour between 10.30am and 4pm. Books, cards, prints and gifts are on sale with lots more information and images of what you will have visited. The outside shop in the Domus building just across the small bridge, on the way to the Bishops Palace, will be open between 11am and 4pm.
MamGu's Cafe, in the Cathedral Refectory, will be open 9.30am to 4pm, and will be serving hot drinks, Welshcakes, snacks, breakfast, and light lunches.
All visitors are also welcome to join the Cathedral worship services. On this day there will be Morning Prayer and Eucharist at the High Altar & Presbytery at 9am. and a Said Evening Prayer in Capel Mair, the Lady Chapel, at 4pm.
Tour attendees should come to the main south porch entrance of the Cathedral in time to start the Tour in the nave at 2pm.
...and can we ask a favour?
if you use ink jet cartridges in a printer, then you can help financially support our 16th century printing by recycling the 21st century printer cartridges. We have a public collection point in the cathedral's north porch, so bring your empty cartridges with you and pop them in the box. Many thanks.
