Workshop Overview
This awareness workshop aims to build knowledge, understanding and confidence among those working with or supporting young people who may be at risk of self-harm. Through shared discussion, local insights and practical guidance, participants will leave with a clearer sense of how to respond compassionately and effectively when a young person is in distress.

Workshop Objectives

  1. Increase knowledge of self-harm to empower frontline staff working particularly with young people who may self-harm.
  2. Develop a better understanding of factors influencing self-harm among young people — including social media, peer pressure and the impact of local events.
  3. Provide a practical framework (using an acronym such as APR) to guide participants in taking appropriate, supportive action when they encounter a young person in crisis.
