The Ullswater Way Challenge is a 21 mile (33 km) picturesque walking trail around one of the most beautiful lakes in England. Starting at Pooley Bridge, the route circumnavigates Ullswater via magnificent waterfalls, ancient woodlands and over stunning fells. We also offer the option of walking just half the route (11 miles to Glenridding).
This challenge is one of the best lower-level walks in the Lake District. This circular walk takes you around the lake, following the shore of Ullswater, where you will enjoy one of the most beautiful areas of the Lake District, with plenty of historic features and picturesque villages to explore on route.
The majority of the route is low-level and follows gentle terrain, with the exception of a short stretch between Glenridding to Howtown where the path is rocky and almost continually climbs and falls.
This is a relatively easy route, suitable for most abilities, however, it is a LONG walk with 3,533 ft (1,077 m) ascent, so shouldn’t be underestimated! Not sure you can go this distance? We have an option for you to join us for half (10.5 miles) of the route, from Pooley Bridge to Glenridding where you can then purchase a ferry ticket back across Ullswater to Pooley Bridge.

Well behaved / friendly dogs (with people and other dogs) are welcome, but make sure they are capable and bear in mind that we are likely to encounter livestock on the way, so leads are needed.
Please arrange your own transport and accommodation, if required. However, if you would like me to help arrange car pooling, this will be an option, also. We recommend having insurance to cover, at a minimum: cancellation and curtailment.

Cancellation Policy
• Refunds:
• Partial refunds (50% price paid per person cancelling) will be awarded if notice of cancellation is given at least 21 days in advance of the event / block of events.
• If cancelling less than 21 days before the event / block of events, 100% of
booking fee is due and no refund will be received.
Please note: the discount applied for bulk booking will be removed from the refund given if an individual event is cancelled in a block.
• Substitutions:
• If you cannot attend an event, you may substitute another person to take your place up to 48 hours before the event start but must inform AT of this
substitution in writing by email / message.
• AT is not party to any exchange of monies between the incoming and outgoing participant.
• As a condition of joining, the incoming participant must agree to the
participation statement / responsibilities.
• Please note that booking fees for a given event / block of events are already heavily invested very early in the planning process.
• Transfers:
• As an alternative it may be possible to transfer your payment to another future event within 3 months of the cancelled event if notice of cancellation is given at least 7 days in advance of your initial booking. This is however, at the discretion of AT.
