Touchdown Dance ONE DAY workshop.
Touchdown Dance workshops are uniquely devised to bring visually Impaired and sighted people together in movement and dance.
Touchdown Dance workshops are an experience! Based in CI fundamentals devised by Steve Paxton and Anne Kilcoyne at Dartington in 1986 – 1994 and developed by the company in workshops, partnership projects and festivals over the decades.
CI is based in the fusion of yoga, dance and Aikido and gymnastics. As a movement discipline, you discover a greater awareness of your body, posture and range of movement potential. Contact Improvisation involves working in physical contact with others to sense and feel our own weight, energy, and our ability to move together safely. Touchdown dance specialist workshop leaders are visually impaired and sighted, teaching through demonstration, audio description and consensual hands-on facilitation methods. We teach warm up and meet and greet exercises, that are fun and work with partnering and group explorations. The aim is to
deepen your trust in your ability to move through space, to gain improved orientation skills and confidence in joining participatory physical activity.
We work with principles and specialist inclusive methods developed over many years of research since 1986 – see our book Inclusive Dance, the story of Touchdown Dance, published by Intellectbooks.com ACCESS
-Touchdown Dance is experienced in providing accessible sessions, we have worked in collaboration with Action for Blind, Henshaws Society for the Blind,SENSE, and many other organisations, nationally and internationally.
-Guide Dogs are welcome and there is a walking area around the building.
