Detaljer

At our Pottery and BYOB class we have a suggested programme of makes for you each month - if you have your own idea you're welcome to make that, with two tutors at the class we'll do what we can to help you achieve your planned project in the time available, but if you need some ideas these are our suggestions! We'll welcome you with a glass of prosecco/nosecco/non-alcholic alternative but if you prefer you can bring your own choice of drink.

Everything to make your pottery project is provided in our well equipped little studio. Here are the planned pottery makes for the year ahead:

January - Dram Cup and Quaich - pinch pots and clay stamps are the basis for this simple project;
February - Bird/animal - from two pinch pots joined together you will create a bird or animal of your choice;
March - Coil Plant Pot / Hanging Planter - coils of clay decoratively joined to form an attractive pot;
April - Small Vase - pinch pots joined together and altered to create your unique vase;
May - Mug and small plate - slab building and use of a template and former;
June - Triptych of Tiles - prepare tiles from a slab of clay, and decorate with your own underglaze transfer;
August - Green Man - create the mythical woodland face using leaf stamps and a little basic sculpture onto a clay tile;
September - Pumpkin - 2 x Pinch pots joined together form the basis for these effective pumpkins;
October - Xmas Candle Wreath - Coils/Slab Building a small plate with leaves / berries/ stars etc to form an attractive table decoration.
November - Xmas Trees - Coils/Slab Building using a tree shaped former;
December - Wax Melt Burner - Slab Building using a template and former;

Guided by experienced potters we will lead you through a relaxed evening of pottery with a varying programme of creative pottery projects throughout the year, see below for more information.

Instruktioner

Everything you need to make your pottery project is provided here so just bring yourself and something to drink if you don't fancy the prosecco! We will guide you through a pre-planned pottery project.

Please note for over 16's only and under 18's must be accompanied by a participating adult.

Glazing of your work is included in the cost of the class and you can choose to either add some colour to your work on the evening using underglaze. Once the pot has dried and had it's first firing we'll transparent glaze it for you or alternatively you can choose from one of the glaze colours we have and then fire it again. This process of drying, glazing and firing means it will take approximately 3-4 weeks before you can collect your work.

Alternatively, if you want to take more time and glaze your own work once it has had its first bisc firing, then you can choose to come back to a glazing class at a later date, just book in for a glazing class, (at a cost of £10/hour), these take place on Saturday afternoons and other dates throughout the year.

A bit of info on getting here/parking etc.

Address:

Clay Half
55 Murray Street
Montrose
DD10 8JZ

Murray Street is easily accessible via public transport as it's just a short walk from the High Street, with bus stops and Montrose rail station a short distance away.

Public car parking is currently free in Angus. There is short stay car parking on Murray Street but it's only for 1 hour during the day. The nearest long stay car parking is very near, it's called Murray Lane and is just to the west of Murray Street. Accessed from Strathmore Place a close (lane) leads you directly from the car park onto Murray Street opposite the Clay Half.

Parking at Lowerhall Street is a little further away, near Basin View and Aldi and the train station, but it is long stay and there are electric charge points there.
