A Winter Solstice Gathering with Natasha & Charlie
Sunday 20 December 2026 · 2–5pm
£45 per person · Coach House Studio, Appleby
There’s something magical about winter… bare branches against colourful skies, crisp air and the river flowing between icy banks, while nature rests and sleeps, quietly preparing for spring.
On the eve of the winter solstice, join us for an afternoon of nature, creativity, restorative yin yoga and sound.
In modern Druidry, the winter solstice is celebrated as Alban Arthan, honouring the longest night and the returning light. A time to pause, reflect and quietly nurture what we hope will grow.
Here in Cumbria, our landscape holds connections to the Celtic world through its old place names, the kingdom of Rheged and the poetry of the bard Taliesin. This heritage of land, story and imagination will inspire our afternoon.
We’ll begin with a gentle riverside walk and nature-inspired meditation, slowing down to notice the small treasures of winter.
Then it’s back to the warmth of the studio to create a pencil drawing or nature poem inspired by our walk. No experience needed—just enjoy having a go.
As daylight fades, we’ll settle into restorative yin yoga before nestling into the hammocks for a sound bath as darkness settles outside.
Blankets, soft lighting and warm underfloor heating… a little cocoon of warmth in the heart of winter.
After the main session finishes at 5pm, you’re welcome to stay a little longer for optional cacao, cake, oracle cards and sharing our experiences.
A moment to honour the darkness, welcome the light and simply be together.
Please arrive at Coach House Studio a little before 2pm so we’re ready to begin together.
Bring:
• Warm layers and a waterproof coat.
• Sturdy shoes suitable for riverside paths, which may be wet or muddy.
• Comfortable, cosy clothing for restorative yin yoga and the hammock sound bath.
• A water bottle.
You can choose between pencil drawing and writing a nature poem. No previous art, yoga or meditation experience is needed.
Please let us know beforehand about any mobility or access needs, anything that may affect your comfort during yoga or in a hammock, and any dietary requirements or allergies if you’d like cacao and cake.
The outdoor part will depend on weather and river conditions and may be adapted if needed.
The main gathering runs from 2–5pm. Cacao, cake, oracle cards and sharing afterwards are optional.
